More tips to tackle the February blues with Alesha Dixon
Hi there! Alesha here. Now we have (hopefully!) come through the coldest bit of winter, it’s time to really push on with your fitness programme. It’s so easy to give up or fall off the ‘get fit wagon’ early on in the year, especially when things don’t seem to be working as well as you hoped. But never fear! I have some more super handy tips for you.
Everyone stalls in the gym now and again. When you hit a road block, try and figure out a new route to your goal. Maybe try a new exercise routine or introduce yourself to a new piece of equipment. Alternatively, you might like to talk to a personal trainer or coach to get some professional advice. Either way, being able to feel both in control and that you are progessing is vital, so if its not the case; change something!
As well as this, remember that nearly everyone who has ever undertaken an exercise programme has quit at some point. It’s a normal reaction and you shouldn’t feel upset or guilty if your gym pass or home exercise equipment is gathering dust. Simply re-focus your mind on your long term goals and accept the fact that achieving them will not be easy. Don’t kid yourself; it can be hard work, but remember its not ‘all or nothing’. Slowly get back in the game and you could make a huge different not only to your fitness, but your mood and motivation too.
